What is a sitemap viewer?

A sitemap viewer loads a site's XML sitemap (or sitemap index) and turns every listed URL into a browsable tree. Instead of reading raw sitemap.xml in a browser tab, you navigate directories and pages like a file manager, then open any page to inspect its Open Graph title, description, and image.

Teams use it to visualize sitemap structure, spot missing sections, extract URL lists for audits, and check social previews before submitting the file to Google Search Console.

How to view a sitemap online

Paste a domain (for example example.com), a full sitemap URL, or the XML itself.
Click Explore. The tool fetches the sitemap through SnitchFeed servers, follows index entries (up to 25 child sitemaps), and builds a path tree capped at 5,000 URLs.
Browse columns: directories open to the right, pages stay in the list. Use Search in any column to filter.
Select a page to load its Open Graph preview in the fixed pane on the right, then open the live URL if you need to verify the page.

Why SEOs use a visual sitemap explorer

A flat XML dump hides structure. Column browsing makes path clusters obvious: orphaned sections, bloated directories, and pages that lack useful Open Graph tags. That is faster than exporting locs to a spreadsheet when you only need a quick inventory or a sanity check after a migration.

What is a sitemap viewer?

A sitemap viewer (also called a sitemap explorer or sitemap visualizer) reads a site's XML sitemap or sitemap index, extracts every listed URL, and turns the path hierarchy into a browsable tree. Instead of scrolling a raw XML file, you navigate directories and pages in columns and can inspect Open Graph details for each page.

How do I view a website's sitemap.xml?

Enter the site domain (for example example.com) or a full sitemap URL like https://example.com/sitemap.xml, then click Explore. The tool tries common locations such as /sitemap.xml and /sitemap-index.xml when you paste a homepage. You can also paste the XML itself if you already downloaded the file.

What sitemap formats does this tool support?

Standard XML sitemaps (urlset) and sitemap indexes (sitemapindex). Nested indexes beyond one level are skipped with a warning. The explorer caps at 5,000 URLs and follows up to 25 child sitemaps from an index so large sites stay usable.

Is this an XML sitemap checker?

It helps you check what a sitemap actually contains: every listed URL, the directory structure, and Open Graph previews for individual pages. It is not a W3C XML validator. Use it to spot missing sections, odd path clusters, or pages with weak social previews before you submit the sitemap to Search Console.

How does this tool load sitemaps?

Sitemap and Open Graph requests go through SnitchFeed servers, so CORS does not block third-party sites. Pasted XML uses the same API so indexes and nested sitemaps are handled consistently. The column browser runs in your session and is not saved to an account.

Why is the browser organized in columns?

Each column is one path level, like Finder or a file manager. Directories open into the next column on the right. Leaf pages stay in the list. Use Search in a column to filter pages and directories, then select a page to see Open Graph title, description, and image in the preview pane.

Do you store the sitemaps I explore?

No. Navigation state stays in your session only. Nothing is saved to a SnitchFeed account.
