What is a sitemap viewer?
A sitemap viewer loads a site's XML sitemap (or sitemap index) and turns every listed URL into a browsable tree. Instead of reading raw sitemap.xml in a browser tab, you navigate directories and pages like a file manager, then open any page to inspect its Open Graph title, description, and image.
Teams use it to visualize sitemap structure, spot missing sections, extract URL lists for audits, and check social previews before submitting the file to Google Search Console.
How to view a sitemap online
- Paste a domain (for example example.com), a full sitemap URL, or the XML itself.
- Click Explore. The tool fetches the sitemap through SnitchFeed servers, follows index entries (up to 25 child sitemaps), and builds a path tree capped at 5,000 URLs.
- Browse columns: directories open to the right, pages stay in the list. Use Search in any column to filter.
- Select a page to load its Open Graph preview in the fixed pane on the right, then open the live URL if you need to verify the page.
Why SEOs use a visual sitemap explorer
A flat XML dump hides structure. Column browsing makes path clusters obvious: orphaned sections, bloated directories, and pages that lack useful Open Graph tags. That is faster than exporting locs to a spreadsheet when you only need a quick inventory or a sanity check after a migration.
