SnitchFeed vs Octolens

Verified against Octolens's own site, September 2026

Both tools find conversations about your product, expose them over an API, and score them with AI. Where they part company is control. Octolens filters with AI alone and says so plainly: no syntax to learn, no manual tuning. SnitchFeed gives you a boolean query language and then scores the results, so you decide what gets matched and the AI decides what matters. If your keywords are generic enough that a wrong relevance call costs you a real conversation, that difference is the whole comparison.

Who each tool is actually for

Octolens is for teams who want breadth and will trust the AI

Fifteen-plus sources including GitHub, Stack Overflow, YouTube, TikTok, podcasts and 150,000 news outlets, with AI deciding what is relevant. Their pitch against query syntax is explicit: no syntax to learn, no manual tuning. If you want the widest net and would rather not think about matching rules, that is a real product decision and they made it deliberately. It expects a budget of at least $199/month.

SnitchFeed is for teams who want to say what counts as a match

A boolean query language (AND, OR, NOT, grouping, exact phrases, plus Hacker News qualifiers like author: and points>) with AI relevance and intent scoring layered on top. Five platforms where B2B buyers actually talk, a REST API and MCP server on every plan, and alerts into Slack and Discord.

SnitchFeed or Octolens?

Choose Octolens if

Teams with a budget over $199/month who need developer platforms, broad media coverage, or mentions as structured data in their own systems.

  • You need GitHub, Stack Overflow, YouTube, TikTok, podcasts or news coverage
  • You would rather have no query syntax at all and let the AI decide
  • You need more than a year of historical data
  • You have a large team who all need their own seat
  • You are tracking a high-volume brand and want predictable per-mention overage

Choose SnitchFeed if

Small B2B teams who need to catch and act on conversations across Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Hacker News without an enterprise budget.

  • Your buyers are on LinkedIn, X and Reddit, not GitHub and Stack Overflow
  • You want to write the query, not hand relevance entirely to a model
  • You want real-time Reddit and Bluesky monitoring on the entry tier
  • You want to write the query yourself and have AI rank what it returns
  • You are a small enough team that one or five seats is genuinely fine

What it costs

Octolens headlines its annual-billed rate, so both axes are shown. Their mention caps and our credits meter different things and are explained separately below, not compared in this table.

What our credits work out to in mentions

One credit is two mentions, so Starter's 7,000 credits is 14,000 a month and Pro's 21,000 is 42,000, against their 15,000 on Pro and 50,000 on Scale. That is a ceiling: it holds in full on Reddit and Bluesky, which cost nothing to poll, and every LinkedIn or X keyword is polled from the same balance and lowers it.

Where Octolens is genuinely better

All of this is true. If any of it is a requirement rather than a preference, buy Octolens.

  • Far more sources, and it is not close

GitHub, Stack Overflow, DEV.to, YouTube, TikTok, podcasts, newsletters and 150k news outlets, none of which we cover at any price. If you are a DevRel team who needs GitHub and Stack Overflow, Octolens is simply the right tool and you should buy it. We cover five platforms: Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Hacker News.

  • Years of history against our months

Two years of data on their Pro tier, unlimited on Scale. We keep three months on Starter and six on Pro. If your work depends on historical trend analysis or long lookbacks, we are the wrong choice and this is not a gap we intend to close.

  • Unlimited seats on every tier

Ours is one seat on Starter and five on Pro. Past roughly eight people who all want their own login, their $159 annual tier genuinely costs less than our $119 Pro. That is a real threshold and worth doing the arithmetic on before you choose us.

  • A clearer answer at high volume

15,000 mentions on the entry tier with defined overage at $0.013 is easier to reason about than a credit budget, and it scales predictably if you are tracking a very noisy brand.

Where SnitchFeed beats Octolens

The cases where we would tell you to pick us.

  • You can say what counts as a match

Octolens positions AI filtering as a replacement for query syntax: their words are no syntax to learn, no manual tuning. That is genuinely simpler, and it also means when the AI decides a mention is irrelevant you have no lever to pull. SnitchFeed gives you AND, OR, NOT, grouping and exact phrases, plus Hacker News qualifiers like author: and points>, and then scores what matches. Control first, AI second.

  • Relevance scoring that teams tell us holds up better

Teams who have moved from Octolens tell us our intent classification is more reliable and that they see fewer false positives on relevance. Both tools score every mention; the difference shows on generic terms, where a wrong relevance call is the difference between a queue you work and a queue you stop opening.

  • Reddit and Bluesky are real-time, and they do not consume credits

Both run on continuous ingestion rather than per-keyword polling, so mentions surface in seconds and watching them costs nothing against your plan. Track as many Reddit and Bluesky terms as your keyword count allows without watching a meter. Octolens Pro refreshes hourly and reserves real-time for Scale at $599 a month.

  • A programmable layer on every plan, not just a mention feed

Our REST API covers mentions, listeners, feeds and usage, and it also exposes on-demand search across X, LinkedIn and Hacker News, plus LinkedIn post comments and reactions. Scoped API keys, rate limiting and a published OpenAPI spec. The MCP server does the same work from Claude or Cursor, including creating listeners and testing queries before you save them. All of it is on the entry plan.

  • And it costs less, though that is not the argument

$199 a month against $59, or $159 against $47 on annual billing, and our Pro at $119 still sits below their entry tier with 30 keywords against their 10. Worth knowing, but if the coverage or the control were not right we would not expect you to buy on price.

Where these figures come from

Octolens figures were checked against their own site in September 2026. Pricing changes; if you spot something out of date here, tell us and we will fix it.

How much does Octolens cost?
Octolens Pro is $199/month, or $159/month billed annually. Scale is $599/month, or $499 annually. Enterprise is custom. There is no tier below Pro, and a 7-day trial capped at 5,000 mentions. Verified against their pricing page in September 2026.
Is SnitchFeed cheaper than Octolens?
Yes, substantially. SnitchFeed Starter is $59/month against Octolens Pro at $199, and $47/month against $159 when both are billed annually. Our Pro at $119 is still below their entry tier, with 30 keywords against their 10.
What does Octolens monitor that SnitchFeed does not?
GitHub, Stack Overflow, DEV.to, YouTube, TikTok, podcasts, newsletters and around 150,000 news outlets. Some of those are Scale tier only. SnitchFeed covers Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Hacker News. If you need developer platform coverage, Octolens is the better tool.
Which is better for a DevRel team?
Octolens, in most cases. GitHub and Stack Overflow coverage is central to developer relations work and we do not offer it. SnitchFeed is the better fit when your audience is on LinkedIn, X and Reddit.
Does SnitchFeed have an API and MCP server like Octolens?
Yes, and on every plan. The REST API covers mentions, listeners, feeds and usage, and adds on-demand search across X, LinkedIn and Hacker News. The MCP server works with Claude, Cursor and other agents. Webhooks are on our Pro tier, where Octolens includes them from their entry tier.
How many mentions do SnitchFeed's credits buy?
AI scoring costs half a credit per mention, so one credit is two: 7,000 credits on Starter is 14,000 mentions a month, and 21,000 on Pro is 42,000. That is a ceiling, reached only on Reddit and Bluesky, which cost nothing to poll. LinkedIn and X are polled per keyword out of the same balance: one X keyword scanned every four hours is 360 credits a month, one LinkedIn keyword 720, and at hourly those become 1,440 and 2,880. Subtract those to get your real number. Octolens' 15,000 on Pro and 50,000 on Scale count delivered mentions, with no polling term at all.
Does Octolens support boolean search operators?
Not as far as their marketing describes. Octolens positions AI filtering as a replacement for query syntax, in their words 'no syntax to learn, no manual tuning'. SnitchFeed supports AND, OR, NOT, grouping and exact phrases, plus Hacker News qualifiers, and applies AI relevance and intent scoring on top of what your query matches.
How long does each tool keep my data?
Octolens keeps two years on Pro and unlimited on Scale. SnitchFeed keeps three months on Starter and six on Pro. If you need long historical lookbacks, that is a genuine reason to choose Octolens.
