Twelve social listening and social data tools now expose an MCP server or a REST API for AI agents: SnitchFeed, Brand24, Octolens, Mentionkit, XPOZ, Meltwater, Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, Mention, Awario, and Syften. They differ sharply on platform coverage, whether API/MCP access is included on entry plans or gated behind an add-on fee or enterprise contract, whether the MCP server (where one exists) is hosted or self-run, and whether the tool does any AI filtering on top of raw data. SnitchFeed's MCP server ships 24 tools (not just a mentions feed) covering Reddit, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and Bluesky, with OAuth login and no separate API key, included on every plan starting at $59/month.

Meltwater Enterprises already paying for Meltwater's media intelligence suite ~$10,000/year (Starter) up to $120,000+/year (Enterprise), quote-only News, broad social/web, Reddit, X, and more via the full suite No Mira API sold as a separate package from the standard API, Enterprise-tier feature Yes, native MCP (api.meltwater.com/mcp), but requires Enterprise tier and an active Mira API subscription
Brandwatch Global enterprises needing the deepest Boolean-search archive and image recognition, regardless of price ~$800 to $15,000+/month, custom quote only Broad social/web/news via the Consumer Intelligence suite No Enterprise-tier add-on, custom API integration fees often apply No native MCP found; access is API-only, sold per contract
Sprout Social Social media management teams that want a listening add-on bolted onto publishing, not a standalone monitoring tool $199 to $399/user/month base, plus a $999/month Listening add-on Broad social + web via the Listening add-on Yes Included with some Listening add-on tiers; scope not fully public No native MCP found
Talkwalker Enterprises wanting a credit-metered Search/Stream API instead of a flat per-seat mention feed Custom quote; credit-based usage (Search API: 1 credit/result, minimum 10/call) Broad social/web/news via the Lumen suite No Yes, custom quote, credit-metered Search and Stream APIs No native MCP found; reachable through Zapier's MCP connector, not a first-party server
Mention Small teams on Mention's Company plan willing to self-host an MCP server rather than use a hosted endpoint Solo $49/mo through ProPlus $179/mo; API and MCP require the custom Company plan Web, X, Instagram, Reddit, forums, news Yes Company plan only, not on Solo/Pro/ProPlus Yes, but self-hosted: the official MCP server runs locally via Bun, not as a remote hosted endpoint
Awario Bootstrapped teams wanting Boolean search and API access well below Brandwatch pricing Starter $29/mo (annual) to Enterprise $249/mo (annual) Social, news, blogs, forums Yes Enterprise plan only ($249/mo annual, $399/mo monthly) No native MCP found
Syften Solo founders and small teams wanting the cheapest path to webhook/MCP automation on Reddit and Hacker News Entry ~$20 to $30/mo, Standard ~$40 to $50/mo, PRO ~$100 to $120/mo (sources vary) Reddit, forums, Hacker News, Stack Exchange, GitHub, web (X and YouTube are paid add-ons) Yes Standard plan and up Yes, native MCP added May 2026, PRO plan only

Pricing above reflects each vendor's public site as of this post's publish date; confirm current figures with the vendor before budgeting. Brand24, Mentionkit, Meltwater, Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, and Syften all publish tiered, partially custom, or third-party-reported pricing that changes more often than platform coverage does. Linked tool names go to a full head-to-head comparison with SnitchFeed; Mentionkit, XPOZ, and Sprout Social don't have a dedicated comparison page yet.

SnitchFeed

SnitchFeed dashboard showing AI-scored mentions across Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky
SnitchFeed dashboard showing AI-scored mentions across Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky

Best for: Startups and SMBs that want their AI assistant to manage monitoring, not just read a mentions feed, and that need Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky in one workspace.

Pricing: Starter at $59/month (10 keywords, 3 listeners, 7-day free trial) and Pro at $119/month (30 keywords, 10 listeners, webhooks, CSV exports, chat with mentions). Both tiers include full API and MCP access at no extra fee.

Features: AI fit scoring and sentiment on every mention, intent tags (buying intent, competitor complaint, feature request), Slack/Discord/email/webhook alert routing, saved feeds, and ad-hoc analytics queries answerable in plain English.

API/AI agent compat: The MCP server (api.snitchfeed.com/mcp) is the most feature-complete of the 12 tools here: 24 tools spanning mentions, listeners, feeds, and analytics, not just a read-only query endpoint. An agent can create a listener, test a Twitter or LinkedIn query live before saving it, build a saved feed, run an analytics breakdown, and audit existing queries for wasted poll credits, all in one OAuth-authenticated session with no API key to generate. A separate REST API covers the same operations for non-agent integrations. See the full tool list.

Honest limitations: No Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, GitHub, or Hacker News coverage. It's a focused Reddit/X/LinkedIn/Bluesky product, so teams needing developer-platform coverage (GitHub, Stack Overflow) should look at Octolens, and teams needing Instagram/TikTok should look at XPOZ instead. Entry-tier keyword and listener caps (10 keywords, 3 listeners on Starter) will feel tight for agencies managing many brands on one account.

Brand24

Best for: Marketing teams that want an official ChatGPT Store app alongside MCP access for Claude and Gemini, and that are comfortable paying a REST API add-on fee if they need one.

Pricing: Five tiers from Individual ($199/month annual) through Enterprise (from $1,499/month annual), scaled by keyword count, mention volume, and update frequency. Pro ($399/month) is the most popular tier and adds real-time updates and AI Events/Insights/Topics features.

Features: AI Sentiment Analysis on every tier, with AI Brand Assistant, AI Insights, and AI Topics unlocked on Pro and above. Broad source coverage (Reddit, X, news, blogs, forums) rather than a social-only feed, plus Slack/Teams alerting and Excel/PDF/PowerPoint exports on all plans.

API/AI agent compat: MCP support is included on every plan, including Individual, connecting to mcp.brand24.com via OAuth so Claude or ChatGPT can query live mention data conversationally. That's separate from the traditional REST API, which costs an extra $99/month on the Business plan and is included only on Enterprise; it isn't available at all on Individual, Team, or Pro. Brand24 is also listed as an official app in the OpenAI ChatGPT App Store, a distinction none of the other tools here have.

Honest limitations: The $99/month API add-on sits on top of an already-higher base price than SnitchFeed or Octolens, so a team wanting both a mention feed and programmatic REST access is looking at $298/month minimum (Business + API), before Enterprise. No native CRM integration for routing mentions into sales workflows and no social publishing or scheduling. The MCP server is read-focused: it answers questions about your data rather than creating or tuning monitoring rules the way SnitchFeed's MCP tools do.

Octolens

Best for: Developer-tool and B2B SaaS companies that need Reddit and X coverage alongside GitHub, Hacker News, and Stack Overflow, where "who's talking about us" includes dev communities other tools don't touch.

Pricing: Pro at $159/month (annual), 15,000 mentions/month, 10 keywords, hourly refresh. Scale at $499/month, 50,000 mentions/month, 40 keywords, real-time refresh, adds podcasts/news/web/newsletters. Enterprise is custom, with unlimited keywords, multiple workspaces, and custom AI agents. Extra mentions cost from $0.01 each and extra keywords from $5/month on either self-serve tier.

Features: AI filtering on all mentions, 13+ platforms in one unified schema, Slack and email alerts, and a pricing calculator that estimates plan fit from expected mention volume and keyword count.

API/AI agent compat: API, webhooks, and the MCP server (app.octolens.com/api/mcp/v2) are included on every plan with no enterprise upsell, matching SnitchFeed's approach of not gating developer access behind higher tiers. The REST API v2 is rate-limited to 500 requests/hour per organization. MCP queries are capped by your plan's monthly mention quota. Once you've used, say, 18,000 of a 20,000-mention allotment, MCP can only see those 18,000 until the quota resets or you upgrade.

Honest limitations: Starting price is the highest of the self-serve tiers here ($159/month vs. SnitchFeed's $59), and the mention-quota model means heavy MCP or API usage can bump you into overage charges or an upgrade faster than a flat-fee tool. Octolens's MCP server is closer to a natural-language wrapper around the REST API than SnitchFeed's tool set: it queries and analyzes but doesn't expose the same breadth of listener/feed-management actions.

Mentionkit

Best for: Lean teams and agencies wanting a full find-review-reply-report workflow with API/MCP access baked in, without an enterprise sales process.

Pricing: Sources for Mentionkit's own tiers differ slightly (one product doc lists Starter $20/Pro $40/Agency $100 per month; another lists $30/$60/$150), so confirm current numbers on their pricing page before budgeting. Plans scale by keyword count, mention volume, and number of projects (1 project on the entry tier, 5 on the mid tier in one published breakdown). All paid plans include a 14-day trial.

Features: Reddit, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Bluesky, YouTube, Hacker News, and GitHub coverage, plus AI-assisted reply drafting, mention assignment, and reporting built around an "act on it" workflow rather than just surfacing mentions.

API/AI agent compat: MCP access "follows the same API availability model" as the rest of the plan: if your tier includes API access, you can connect the MCP server with a valid token, and the two share the same underlying data and auth. There is no separate MCP fee, but there's also no MCP access on a tier that excludes the API. The REST API requires an active trial, paid subscription, or billing exemption; a deactivated org gets a 403 on every call.

Honest limitations: Published pricing is inconsistent across Mentionkit's own site and articles, which makes it harder to budget confidently than SnitchFeed, Octolens, or XPOZ, all of which have one canonical pricing page. Entry-tier project limits (as low as 1 project) will constrain agencies managing multiple client brands sooner than SnitchFeed's listener-based model.

XPOZ

Best for: Developers building their own monitoring, lead-gen, or competitive-intel product on top of raw social data, where MCP is one access method among several (also TypeScript/Python SDKs and a CLI).

Pricing: Free tier (100,000 results/month, 1 tracked item, per some pages; 2,500 one-time credits per others, confirm current terms). Pro at $20/month (1M results, 10 tracked items, or 30,000 credits depending on the metric used). Max at $200/month (10M results, 30 tracked items, or 600,000 credits). Enterprise is custom.

Features: Normalized cross-platform data model across four platforms, natural-language queries, CSV exports up to 500,000 rows via async operations, server-side pagination, and field selection to request only what you need.

API/AI agent compat: The MCP server (mcp.xpoz.ai/mcp) uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration (sign in with Google, no API keys to manage for MCP clients), and works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini CLI, and Cursor out of the box. Typed SDKs (TypeScript, Python) cover the same data for teams writing code instead of prompting an agent. XPOZ pitches itself explicitly against paying platforms directly: Twitter's Basic API costs $100/month for 10,000 tweets and its Pro tier is $5,000/month, versus XPOZ's free-to-$200/month range for comparable or greater volume.

Honest limitations: No LinkedIn or Bluesky coverage at all, the narrowest platform set of the tools here, which rules it out for teams that need those specifically. There's no AI relevance scoring, sentiment, or intent tagging on top of the raw data the way SnitchFeed, Brand24, and Octolens all layer in; XPOZ returns matching posts and leaves interpretation to you or your agent. It's a data-access product, not a monitoring dashboard: there's no alerting, no Slack routing, and no saved-view concept.

Meltwater

Best for: Enterprises that already run Meltwater's media intelligence suite and want to extend existing PR/social workflows with an AI layer, not teams evaluating monitoring tools from scratch.

Pricing: Indicative starting points are Starter from $10,000/year, Pro from $25,000/year, and Enterprise from roughly $120,000 to $130,000+/year, with most contracts running a minimum 12-month term. Actual quotes depend on modules, coverage, user count, and contract length; there is no self-serve checkout.

Features: Full media and social monitoring suite (news, social, Reddit, X, and more) with Mira, Meltwater's AI assistant, providing AI-assisted summaries and smart filtering on Starter, advanced analysis and trend synthesis on Pro, and enterprise-grade agentic capabilities (multi-step intelligence tasks pushed into workflows via API) on Enterprise.

API/AI agent compat: The Mira API, which includes the MCP server, is sold as a separate package from Meltwater's standard API and is generally only available on Enterprise-tier contracts; check your specific agreement or ask your account manager. The MCP server (api.meltwater.com/mcp) is rate-limited to 60 requests/minute, shared with the Mira Responses endpoint, and conversations cap out at 290,000 tokens of history before older messages are dropped.

Honest limitations: No self-serve signup, no published pricing below the "Starter from $10,000/year" indicative figure, and a 12-month minimum contract is standard. MCP/API access specifically requires Enterprise-tier plus an active Mira API subscription, meaning a Starter or Pro Meltwater customer cannot get agent access at all without upgrading and negotiating a separate package. This is the only tool in this comparison where AI agent access isn't achievable on a self-serve credit card signup at any price point.

Brandwatch

Best for: Global enterprises that need the deepest Boolean-search archive, image recognition, and cross-market coverage in the category, and for whom price is a secondary concern.

Pricing: No public pricing. Third-party estimates put entry tiers at $800 to $2,000/month, mid-tier at $2,000 to $5,000/month, and enterprise at $5,000 to $15,000+/month, all on annual contracts with a sales call required. Setup/onboarding fees ($500 to $2,000+) and custom API integrations ($1,000+ per project) are common add-ons on top of the base contract.

Features: Basic listening and sentiment on every tier; image recognition and deeper analytics on higher tiers. Brandwatch also owns BuzzSumo (content research) and IdeaCage (multi-screen visualization), sold as separate add-ons under the same enterprise umbrella.

API/AI agent compat: API access to Brandwatch's Analytics data is available, but strictly as an Enterprise-tier feature or paid add-on, rate-limited to 30 calls per 10 minutes on the base Analytics API tier. There is no public MCP server or registry listing for Brandwatch as of this post; AI agent access, if any, would need to be built on top of the REST API directly.

Honest limitations: No self-serve signup, no free trial (demo only), and no published pricing anywhere on the site. This is the most expensive and least self-serve tool in this comparison, and the least AI-agent-ready in the literal sense: no native MCP server, so an agent integration means building and maintaining your own wrapper around a rate-limited enterprise API.

Sprout Social

Best for: Social media management teams that already use Sprout for publishing and scheduling and want listening bolted onto the same seat-based subscription, not a standalone monitoring or AI-agent tool.

Pricing: Base plans run $199/user/month (Standard) to $399/user/month (Advanced), billed per seat. Social Listening is not included in any base tier, including Advanced; it's a separate add-on that Sprout prices on request, with industry reports consistently citing roughly $999/month on top of the base subscription.

Features: Full social media management suite (scheduling, publishing, engagement) with Listening layered in as a premium module: brand mention monitoring, keyword tracking, and trend data once purchased.

API/AI agent compat: No official MCP server. API access exists for Sprout's platform generally, but the Listening module's specific API scope isn't clearly published, and per-seat plus add-on pricing means most teams evaluating AI agent access here are really pricing out a $15,000+/year commitment before any programmatic integration.

Honest limitations: The per-seat pricing model compounds fast: a 3-person team on the Professional plan pays over $10,000/year before the Listening add-on, and over $22,000/year with it. There's no meaningful MCP story here at all, no free tier, and Listening depth doesn't match dedicated tools like Brandwatch or SnitchFeed at any price point Sprout has published.

Talkwalker

Best for: Enterprises that want to pay by the result rather than by the seat, and that need Search and Stream APIs metered by credits instead of a flat monthly mention cap.

Pricing: No public pricing; custom quote required for the Lumen by Talkwalker platform. Once subscribed, API usage is credit-metered: the Search API costs 1 credit per result with a 10-credit minimum per call, the Stream API costs 1 credit per new result, and the Histogram API costs 10 credits per call. Credits reset monthly.

Features: Broad social/web/news coverage through the Lumen intelligence engine, with tiers (Core, Analyze, and above) scaling non-sampled results volume, topic/filter/channel counts, historical data depth, and, on higher tiers, "additional AI agent questions and LLM Insights channels."

API/AI agent compat: No native Talkwalker MCP server found as of this post. Talkwalker mentions Zapier MCP integration in its own documentation, meaning AI agent access runs through Zapier's general-purpose MCP connector rather than a first-party Talkwalker MCP endpoint. The credit-metered Search/Stream APIs are well documented for direct programmatic use outside of MCP.

Honest limitations: Like Brandwatch, there's no public pricing and no self-serve signup; every plan requires a custom quote. Credit-based billing makes cost forecasting for heavy MCP or API usage harder than a flat per-plan quota (Octolens) or flat per-plan fee (SnitchFeed, Brand24). The lack of a native MCP server means agent access is one layer removed, via Zapier, rather than a direct connection.

Mention

Best for: Small teams already paying for Mention's custom Company plan who are comfortable running their own MCP server locally instead of connecting to a hosted endpoint.

Pricing: Solo at $49/month (2 alerts, 5,000 mentions, 1 user), Pro at $99/month (5 alerts, 100,000 mentions, 10 users), ProPlus at $179/month (7 alerts, 500,000 mentions, unlimited users). API access, and by extension MCP, is only unlocked on the custom-quoted Company plan, not on any of the three published tiers.

Features: Web, X, Instagram, Reddit, forum, and news mention tracking with alert-based monitoring, team collaboration (mention assignment, shared access, roles), and white-label reporting on higher tiers.

API/AI agent compat: Mention ships an official open-source MCP server (via its packages/mcp repository directory), but it's a self-hosted long-running HTTP server you run yourself with Bun, not a remote endpoint Mention operates for you. It supports both Streamable HTTP and SSE transport, authenticated with your Mention API token as a Bearer header. A third-party MCP implementation (@maelitop/mention-mcp-server) also exists on npm, exposing alert management and mention-fetching tools, for teams that don't want to run the official server themselves.

Honest limitations: API and MCP access both require the custom Company plan, meaning the published $49 to $179/month tiers give you no programmatic or agent access at all. The self-hosted MCP model is a meaningfully different operating model from every hosted MCP server in this comparison (SnitchFeed, Brand24, Octolens, XPOZ, Meltwater, Syften): you're responsible for running, securing, and keeping the server online yourself.

Awario

Best for: Bootstrapped teams and agencies wanting Boolean search, sentiment, and API access at roughly a tenth of Brandwatch's price, once they're willing to pay for the Enterprise tier.

Pricing: Starter at $29/month (annual) or $49/month (monthly): 3 topics, 30,000 mentions/month. Pro at $89/month (annual) or $149/month (monthly): 15 topics, 300,000 mentions/month, adds export and shareable reports. Enterprise at $249/month (annual) or $399/month (monthly): 100 topics, 1,000,000 mentions/month, white-label reports, API access, and a dedicated account manager.

Features: Boolean search, sentiment analysis, unlimited keywords per topic, unlimited team members on every tier, CSV export and white-label PDF reports on Pro and Enterprise, and "Awario Leads" for surfacing buying-intent and competitor-complaint posts.

API/AI agent compat: No native MCP server. API access is an Enterprise-only feature, so any AI agent integration means building against Awario's REST API on the $249 to $399/month tier specifically; Starter and Pro have no programmatic access path at all.

Honest limitations: API access sits behind the highest published tier, the same pattern as Brand24's add-on fee but structured as a full plan upgrade instead. No MCP server means no direct agent connection regardless of tier; you're building your own integration layer on top of the REST API if you want AI agent access here.

Syften

Best for: Solo founders and small teams wanting the cheapest self-serve path to webhook or MCP automation on Reddit, Hacker News, and other community platforms, and who can live without native X/YouTube coverage.

Pricing: Entry around $20 to $30/month (sources differ: $19.95 vs. $29.95), Standard around $40 to $50/month ($39.95 vs. $49.95), and Syften PRO around $100 to $120/month ($99.95 vs. $119.95), depending on which Syften page or third-party writeup you check. X/Twitter and YouTube monitoring are paid add-ons on every tier, roughly $40/month and $20/month respectively.

Features: Keyword monitoring across Reddit, forums, Stack Exchange, podcasts, Hacker News, Indie Hackers, GitHub, Slack communities, mailing lists, and the public web. AI filtering and Slack integration arrive on Standard; webhooks and MCP arrive on PRO.

API/AI agent compat: Syften added a native MCP endpoint (syften.com/mcp) in May 2026, available on the PRO plan only, at no extra per-call fee beyond the PRO subscription. The MCP connector can inspect your monitoring configuration and delivery settings, lint filter health, preview a filter against the archive, and retrieve recent matches. A separate JSON API (account settings, filters, recent matches) is available from the Standard plan up.

Honest limitations: MCP and webhooks are both locked to the top PRO tier, the most expensive plan Syften publishes, and X/YouTube coverage cost extra on every tier including PRO, which can push a "complete" Syften setup well past its headline price. Published pricing is inconsistent across Syften's own site and third-party reviews (roughly a 50% swing between sources for the same tier), so confirm the current number before budgeting.

What "AI agent ready" actually means here

Not every "API" listed above is equal, and not every MCP server does the same job, or even exists:

  • SnitchFeed exposes 24 tools across mentions, listeners, feeds, and analytics: an agent can read mentions, create and tune keyword listeners, test a query live before saving it, build saved feeds, run ad-hoc analytics, and audit existing queries for noise, all through one OAuth login. See the full tool list.
  • Brand24 and Meltwater MCP are read-focused: an agent asks a question and gets a grounded answer back, closer to a chat interface than a set of callable tools for managing monitoring itself.
  • Octolens, Mentionkit, and XPOZ lean more toward raw data access: query mentions and keywords programmatically, with the MCP server as a natural-language wrapper around the same REST endpoints.
  • Syften added a hosted MCP endpoint in May 2026, gated to its top PRO tier, for inspecting monitoring config and pulling recent matches.
  • Mention ships an MCP server too, but it's self-hosted: you run it yourself via Bun rather than connecting to an endpoint Mention operates for you, a meaningfully different operating model from every other MCP server in this list.
  • Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, and Awario have no native MCP server at all. They're API-only (Talkwalker is reachable indirectly through Zapier's MCP connector), so any AI agent integration means building and maintaining your own wrapper on top of a rate-limited or credit-metered REST API, usually gated to their most expensive tier.
  • XPOZ is the outlier on platform coverage. It has no LinkedIn or Bluesky support, and its Reddit and X coverage is aimed at developers building their own monitoring logic rather than teams wanting AI relevance scoring out of the box.

Is there an MCP server for Twitter/X specifically?

Yes, across most of the tools here. SnitchFeed's MCP server includes tools for searching X mentions, testing Twitter queries before you save them, and running analytics filtered to the X platform, alongside the same tools for Reddit, LinkedIn, and Bluesky. Octolens and XPOZ both expose X/Twitter data through their MCP servers as well, Brand24 and Meltwater cover X as part of their broader media and social monitoring, and Mention covers X through its self-hosted server. Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, and Awario cover X data but have no MCP server to query it through; Syften's Twitter/X coverage on top of its new MCP endpoint is a paid add-on, not included by default. If "mcp twitter" or "x mcp server" is your specific need, check whether the tool treats X as one platform among several (SnitchFeed, Octolens) or as part of a wider cross-platform data feed (XPOZ), and whether X coverage costs extra on top of MCP access (Syften).

How to choose

  • Want AI agents to manage monitoring, not just read it? SnitchFeed's MCP tools can create listeners, tune keywords, and build feeds from a plain-English request, not only fetch mentions.
  • Need deep developer-platform coverage (GitHub, Stack Overflow, Hacker News)? Octolens, Mentionkit, and Syften all cover those niche platforms; Octolens goes deeper on GitHub and Stack Overflow specifically.
  • Budget-sensitive and want no API/MCP add-on fees? SnitchFeed ($59/month), Octolens ($159/month), and XPOZ (free tier, $20/month Pro) all include API and MCP access on every plan with no extra charge. Brand24 charges $99/month on top of its Business plan; Meltwater, Mentionkit, Mention, Awario, and Syften's MCP tier all tie agent access to which specific plan or add-on you've already bought.
  • Already an enterprise customer of Meltwater, Brand24, Brandwatch, Sprout Social, or Talkwalker? For the ones with an MCP server (Meltwater, Brand24), that's the fastest path since the data licensing is already in place; just confirm your tier includes it. For the ones without one (Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker), you'll be building your own integration against their REST API regardless of tier.
  • Building your own product on top of raw social data, not running a dashboard? XPOZ is architected as a developer API and SDK first, with MCP as one access method among several, and its pay-per-volume pricing undercuts going direct to Twitter/X's own API by a wide margin.
  • Comfortable self-hosting an MCP server instead of using a hosted one? Mention's official MCP server runs locally via Bun against its API; most other tools here operate the MCP endpoint for you.
  • Need LinkedIn or Bluesky coverage specifically? XPOZ, Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, Awario, and Syften don't cover both. SnitchFeed, Mentionkit, and Brand24 all support LinkedIn; SnitchFeed and Mentionkit both support Bluesky.
  • Want AI relevance scoring or sentiment on top of raw matches, not just a keyword firehose? SnitchFeed, Brand24, Octolens, Mentionkit, Talkwalker, and Awario all layer some form of AI or sentiment scoring in; XPOZ hands back matching posts and leaves interpretation to your agent or your own code.
  • Want the cheapest self-serve path to any MCP access at all? Syften's PRO tier and XPOZ's Pro tier are the lowest-priced ways into a native, hosted MCP server among tools that publish self-serve pricing; SnitchFeed is the cheapest option that also adds AI relevance scoring on top.
  • Want the AI connection and a real-time alerting/webhook layer in the same tool? SnitchFeed, Octolens, and Syften (PRO) all pair MCP with webhooks; see SnitchFeed's webhook automation recipes for what that looks like end to end.

FAQ

What is a social listening MCP server?

A social listening MCP server is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol that lets AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor call tools to read and manage social monitoring data directly, in natural language, instead of exporting data or building a custom integration against a REST API.

What is a social listening API?

A social listening API is a REST endpoint that returns mention, keyword, and analytics data programmatically, for teams building their own dashboards, pipelines, or automations on top of a monitoring tool's data. Most tools with an MCP server also expose the same data through a plain REST API for non-agent use cases.

Does SnitchFeed have an MCP server?

Yes. SnitchFeed's MCP server is included on every plan, including Starter, with 24 tools covering mentions, listeners, feeds, and analytics across Reddit, X, LinkedIn, and Bluesky. Setup is a one-time OAuth login, no API keys to generate. See the setup guide for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Windsurf.

Which social listening tools have a native MCP server?

Among the 12 tools compared here, SnitchFeed, Brand24, Octolens, Mentionkit, XPOZ, Meltwater, Mention, and Syften all offer some form of native MCP server. Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, and Awario do not; Talkwalker is reachable through Zapier's general-purpose MCP connector, and the other three have no MCP path at all as of this post. Coverage, included tools, whether the server is hosted or self-run (Mention), and whether MCP access requires a specific paid tier (Syften's PRO plan) vary significantly; see the comparison table above.

Is MCP access free, or does it cost extra?

It depends on the vendor. SnitchFeed and Octolens include MCP and API access on every plan with no add-on fee, including entry tiers. Mentionkit ties MCP to whichever plan already includes API access, again with no separate MCP charge. Brand24 includes MCP on every plan but charges an extra $99/month for its traditional REST API below Enterprise. Meltwater's Mira API, which includes MCP, is sold as a separate package from the standard Meltwater API and generally requires Enterprise-tier plus an active subscription with Mira API permissions. Mention requires its custom Company plan for both API and MCP access, and Syften gates its native MCP endpoint to the PRO plan specifically, its most expensive self-serve tier.

Which of these tools is cheapest for AI agent access?

XPOZ has a free tier (with usage limits) and a $20/month Pro tier, one of the lowest paid entry points here, but it only covers X, Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit with no AI scoring layered on top. Syften's PRO tier (roughly $100 to $120/month depending on the source) is the cheapest self-serve way into a hosted, native MCP endpoint among tools without AI scoring. Among tools that add AI relevance scoring and sentiment on top of raw data, SnitchFeed's $59/month Starter plan is the cheapest with full MCP and API access included, versus Octolens at $159/month and Brand24's effective $298/month (Business plan plus the API add-on) for comparable programmatic access. Brandwatch, Sprout Social, and Talkwalker are the most expensive paths to any API access here, all requiring custom enterprise quotes with no self-serve tier.

Which tool covers the most platforms?

Mentionkit and Octolens both cover the widest platform set among these 12: Mentionkit lists Reddit, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Bluesky, YouTube, Hacker News, and GitHub, and Octolens covers 13+ platforms including podcasts, news, and web sources on its higher tier. Brandwatch, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, and Meltwater all claim broad social/web/news coverage as enterprise suites, but without a self-serve platform list to verify against, and none of the four have a native MCP server through which an agent could query that coverage directly. SnitchFeed focuses on four platforms (Reddit, X, LinkedIn, Bluesky) with deeper AI scoring on each rather than broader raw coverage. XPOZ covers the fewest defined platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit), with no LinkedIn or Bluesky at all.

Do any of these tools have a free tier?

XPOZ is the only one with an ongoing free tier (limited monthly results/credits, no credit card required). F5Bot and Google Alerts are free options outside this list of 12 if you don't need AI scoring or MCP access at all; see Best Reddit Monitoring Tools in 2026 for that comparison. SnitchFeed, Brand24, Octolens, and Syften all offer free trials (7 to 14 days) rather than an ongoing free plan; Brandwatch and Talkwalker offer demos instead of trials, and Sprout Social's 30-day trial does not include its Listening add-on.

Do any of these tools skip MCP entirely and rely only on Zapier or similar connectors?

Talkwalker is the clearest example: its own documentation points to Zapier's MCP connector for AI agent access rather than a first-party Talkwalker MCP server. Brandwatch, Sprout Social, and Awario have no documented MCP path at all, native or through a third-party connector, so an AI agent integration there means building directly against their REST APIs.
