Generate responses

Use the Respond dialog to draft public replies and DMs from the Feed—pick a profile, tweak settings, transform drafts, and copy to the platform.

The Respond dialog turns a mention on your Feed into an editable AI draft. You review context on the left, choose a response profile and settings on the right, generate, refine, and copy the text to post on the social platform yourself.

Credit cost

Each successful Generate (or generating again after changing approach) costs 5 credits.

Transforms on an existing draft—Shorten, Expand, Rephrase, and the rest—do not charge additional SnitchFeed credits. They still create a new version in the dialog history.

Regenerating counts as a new generation when you run Generate again with different settings or start a fresh draft for the same delivery mode.

Open Respond

Find the mention

On the Feed, Bookmarks, or any view that shows mention cards with the same actions.

Click Respond

On the mention card, click Respond (reply icon). SnitchFeed opens the Respond to mention dialog.

Create a profile if needed

If your workspace has no profiles yet, you will see a prompt to Create profile. Finish Create a response profile first—you cannot generate until at least one profile exists.

A platform-native preview of the post or comment: author, content, and listener context so you can judge tone and intent before drafting.

Draft workspace (right)

Profile — Select which response profile drives the draft. Use Edit to open the full profile editor, Update profile to save slider/goal tweaks back to the selected profile, Duplicate or New to fork tweaks into another profile.
Tweak Settings — Per-mention overrides (collapsed under an accordion). See Tweak settings below.
Editor — Delivery mode, generate actions, draft text, transforms, version history, and character count.

Choose delivery: public reply or DM

Where the platform supports it, switch between:

Public reply — Comment on the thread (labeled Tweet, Comment, or Public reply depending on the network).
DM — Private message to the author; wording avoids thread-specific phrasing.

SnitchFeed keeps separate draft history per delivery mode on the same mention. Switching tabs restores the last draft for that mode if one exists; otherwise you start fresh for that mode.

Generate a draft

Confirm the profile and Tweak Settings match what you want.
Click Generate (button label reflects the mode—for example Generate Comment or Generate DM).
Watch the draft stream in. You can edit the text manually at any time after generation completes.

Click Generate again to produce another version (for example after changing the goal or sliders). Use the version arrows at the bottom (1 / 3) to move between saved generations for the current delivery mode.

Tweak settings

Open Tweak Settings to adjust this mention only. Defaults come from the selected profile.

Control	What it does
Goal	Same presets as the profile (Drive conversion, Build relationship, etc.) or Custom text.
Tone	Casual ↔ very formal (1–5).
Length	Very short ↔ very long (1–5); combined with platform caps in the editor.
Assertiveness	Hedged ↔ bold (1–5).
Brand plug	No plug ↔ soft CTA (1–5).

If sliders or goal differ from the profile’s saved values, you can:

Update profile — Overwrite the profile’s goal and voice sliders with your tweaks (instructions and platform examples stay unchanged).
Duplicate — Open the profile editor with a copy plus your tweaks; save to create a new profile.
New — Save tweaks as a brand-new profile with a name you choose.

Transforms

After you have a draft, use the pill buttons under the text area to refine it without re-running a full generate from scratch:

Transform	Effect
Shorten	Tighter copy while keeping the same intent.
Expand	More detail and context where helpful.
Rephrase	Same meaning, different wording.
Less salesy	Tone down promotional language.
More human	Warmer, more conversational phrasing.
More technical	Deeper, more precise detail.

When transforms are disabled

Transforms apply to the active generation. If you change Tweak Settings so they no longer match that generation’s saved settings, transforms are disabled until you Generate again (or switch to a version whose settings match your current tweaks).

Each transform adds a new entry in version history. You can still edit the text manually between transforms.

Copy and open the mention

Copy — Copies the draft to your clipboard and logs the copy event.
Copy & Open — Copies the draft and opens the mention’s on-platform URL in a new tab so you can paste and post immediately.

SnitchFeed does not publish replies for you—you always complete the action on Reddit, X, LinkedIn, or Bluesky.

Character limits

The editor shows a live character count when the platform has a maximum. Limits used in the product include:

Bluesky	300 characters
X (Twitter)	Platform rules apply; very long drafts may need editing before posting a public reply.
LinkedIn	1,250 characters
Reddit	1,000 characters

If the count turns red, shorten the draft or run Shorten before posting.

What the model sees

Besides your profile and tweaks, generation uses:

The mention text and metadata
The listener that surfaced the match
Workspace Brand Context
Platform rules (tone expectations, reply vs DM, length guidance)

That combination is why completing Brand Context and maintaining accurate response profiles matters for quality.

Bookmarks — Save mentions and respond later from the same card actions.
