# Set up notifications for a feed (https://snitchfeed.com/docs/notifications/per-feed)

Notifications in SnitchFeed belong to a **[feed](/docs/feeds)**, not to a listener. Each feed has its own channels, its own on/off switch and its own filters. A new mention is sent to a feed's channels only if it passes **that feed's filters**.

## Turn on notifications for a feed [#turn-on-notifications-for-a-feed]

New feeds send nothing until you set them up.

1. Open a saved feed and click **Notifications** in the top bar. You can also open the same dialog from the **Notifications** column on the Feeds page.
2. Pick a tab: **Slack**, **Discord**, **Email** or **Webhooks**, and add at least one destination. See [Slack](/docs/notifications/slack), [Discord](/docs/notifications/discord), [Email](/docs/notifications/email) and [Webhooks](/docs/integrations/webhooks) for each channel.
3. Switch on **Enable notifications**. The switch stays off until a channel is configured.
4. Click **Save changes**. Nothing is saved until you do.

A green check on a tab means that channel has at least one destination. If **Enable notifications** is off, the dialog shows a banner and no alerts are sent, even when channels are set up.

<Callout type="info" title="Saved feeds only">
  The **Notifications** button appears on saved feeds. To get alerts for a set
  of filters, save them as a feed first (see [Create a
  feed](/docs/feeds#create-a-feed)).
</Callout>

## The feed's filters decide what is sent [#the-feeds-filters-decide-what-is-sent]

There is no separate alert threshold. The filters saved on the feed are the rule. Every filter you set must match, and inside one filter any selected value matches. An empty filter means no restriction.

Notifications use these filters:

* **Fit score**: High, Medium and Low
* **Include Listeners** and **Exclude Listeners**
* **Platforms**
* **Include Intents** and **Exclude Intents**
* **Sentiment**
* **Include Keywords** and **Exclude Keywords**
* **Include Subreddits** and **Exclude Subreddits** (Reddit posts only)
* **Tracked Profiles**
* **Languages**

These only change what you browse in the feed and **do not** affect alerts: **Sort**, **Seen vs New**, **Date Posted**, collections and the Engaged state.

To change what a feed sends, edit its filters in the feed and click **Update Feed**.

### Fit score levels [#fit-score-levels]

| Level      | Fit Score     |
| ---------- | ------------- |
| **High**   | 70% and above |
| **Medium** | 50% to 69%    |
| **Low**    | Below 50%     |

For example, to get Slack pings only for strong matches, create a feed with **Fit score = High**, add your Slack channel in its notification settings and enable notifications. A mention with no score counts as Low.

A feed that SnitchFeed creates for a new listener starts with **Fit score = Medium + High**.

## When alerts arrive [#when-alerts-arrive]

* **Slack, Discord and webhooks** fire as soon as a new mention is stored.
* **Email** is a digest on the schedule you choose. A mention is emailed once, even if several feeds match it.
* Alerts are not retroactive. They cover mentions that arrive after you save.

## Personal summary emails [#personal-summary-emails]

Separate from feed email, **Workspace Settings → Notifications** holds your own **Daily digest** and **Weekly digest** summary emails and their **Timezone**. They are not tied to any feed.
